The place for hands-on collaboration and development of MEF 3.0 Implementation Projects!
MEF LSO Hackathons encourage software developers and network experts to collaborate and develop utilities, ideas, sample code and solutions that show practical implementations of MEF-defined services and LSO APIs.
MEF is holding its 7th LSO Hackathon at MEF18 to further the existing MEF 3.0 Implementation Projects as well as incubate new ones. This is a great opportunity to collaborate in a hands-on environment, share and learn from your peers, enhance your understanding of LSO, SDN, NFV in the context of working code.

LSO Hackathon Topics
MEF LSO Hackathons cover a wide range of topics, as shown below. More information on specific projects offered in the MEF18 LSO Hackathon will be made available closer to the event.

MEF LSO Hackathoners cover a range of topics including:
  • Intent, Declarative and Imperative APIs

More information on specific projects offered in the upcoming LSO Hackathon will be made available closer to the event.
MEF LSO Hackathons cover a range of technologies including:
  • LSO Reference Architecture and Operational Threads
  • LSO APIs
  • YANG
  • Swagger
  • ONF Open Source Eagle Tools
  • Java & Python-based Code Generation
What are the goals?
  • Create a collaborative platform for developers worldwide to translate the MEF 3.0 services framework into action.
  • Provide the next generation of developers the opportunity to engage with and learn technologies used in the rapidly growing market of application-aware managed services
What is the format?
Collaborative with an emphasis on creating reference implementations based on MEF’s LSO architecture leveraging (where possible) open source projects, such as OpenDaylight, OpenStack, PNDA, and others, better suited to play significant roles within this architecture. The goals are shared and the Hackathon is open to everyone - MEF members and non-MEF members. Most importantly, it is fun and a great learning experience!
What is the scope?
This will be finalized just 2 weeks before the event but will include work on Service Orchestration, Software Defined Networking, Big Data Analytics of Network Data, and more.
Who is the ideal hackathoner?
The recommended background for LSO Hackathoners – one or more of the following:
  • Open Source project contributors
  • Software developers from service providers, system integrators, ISVs and technology vendors
  • Network engineers, architects, designers etc. from service providers
  • BSS/OSS architects
  • MEF specification contributors
